Specific Information

Auburn Council has no formal policy on garage sales. It is understood however, that the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure may be preparing a set of requirements for inclusion within the State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008. It is suggested that you contact the department to verify this.

In the interim, you are advised that garage sales may occur only in conjunction with an established residential use of a dwelling house and should not occur on more than 2 occasions per year and should occur in such a way as to not interfere with the amenity of the locality or neighbouring properties in any way.

The rules on this website may be outdated or wrong. It is your own responsibility to make sure that you adhere to the current rules and regulations that apply to garage sales in your area.
