Blue Mountains Council Garage Sale Rules

Below is a list of restrictions and limitations that apply to garage sales in the Blue Mountains Council area. What you can see is pretty much a copy and paste of the information that was provided to me by the Blue Mountains Council. I suggest you use this information as a rough guide only and double check to be sure.

Specific Information

In the Blue Mountains City Council Local Government Area, there is no defined use of "garage sale" thus the submission of a development application for such a use is not possible. There are no regulations or proscriptions around the use. However, residential zonings do not permit the defined use of "shops" in the Blue Mountains area so it is not unreasonable to assume that the regular holding of a sale from the same house on more than a "one off" occasion would be likely to generate complaints to Council"s Development Monitoring Team (particularly around the generation of traffic and noise in residential streets) who would then investigate and take action as was deemed necessary.
